It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Zachary Ellis on March 13, 2025. Zakk was born on December 12, 1980 in Juarez Mexico and adopted by Jerry Ellis and Susan Rothey Ellis. He grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. Zakk was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Zakk had such a big heart and wanted to help others and even went on to get his Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health. Having gone through many of his own personal struggles, he was able to build rapport with anyone and help them through their dark time. While Zakk didn't always have much to give, he would give whatever he could even if it was just the spare change in his pocket.
Zakk's proudest moments were cheering on his children and joining in their successes. He loved sharing his passions with his children including snowboarding, fishing, soccer, Yellowstone Park, shooting, swimming and boating. He had such a love for dogs and was never long without one by his side and they quickly became one of his children.
Zakk touched the lives of many and was quick to make friends with those around him. He gave the best hugs whether it was in greeting, saying goodbye, or to cheer someone up. It didn't matter if you knew him well or just meeting him for the first time, he had a ready smile and tight hug waiting.
Zakk was constantly listening to music and it played such a big part in his life. It was very common to see him with an earpod in his ear or a speaker in his hand wherever he went. He expressed himself and his emotions through music whether it was going to concerts, making beats on his computer, writing songs with his wife, playing the guitar or piano, freestyling with his nephew, or singing and dancing to any genre of music.
Zakk is survived by his wife Traci and their children; Zayah, Kanion, and Xander; his ex-wife Monica Chavez and their children; Arelia Chavez-Ellis and Marquesa Chavez-Ellis; his parents Jerry and Susan Ellis; his siblings Terri (Patrick) Johnson, Nadine (Brent) Knight, Charles (Sonja) Ellis, Jim (Peggy) Ellis, and Luke (Autumn) Ellis. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeralyn Ellis; infant sister, Tracy Ellis, and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, 11am at the Hillcrest 4th Ward Chapel, 680 Nathan Barnes St in American Fork. A viewing will be held prior to the services at 8:45am where friends may visit with family.
Following the service, Zakk will be laid to rest at 600 North Center Street in American Fork, Utah.
