Xander John Heaton lost his valiant and courageous battle with cancer on September 22, 2021 at his home in Eagle Mountain surrounded by his parents and siblings.
Xander was born August 6, 2013 to Michael Stephen Heaton and Erin Woffinden Heaton in American Fork, Utah.
In Xander’s short life he touched so many with his active imagination, funny made up songs, and incredible dance moves. His deep belly laughs were the best. Xander had a deep love for anything fire fighting. He was sworn into multiple stations around the state as an honorary fireman and got to participate in and perform tasks such as: ride as captain and control the sirens, shoot a hose, and call for backup.
Xander was the University of Utah football team’s (Go Utes as he called them) biggest fan. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team, Swoop, and Make-A-Wish foundation for making his dream come true in his last days, to meet the team on the practice field.
Xander is survived by his father Michael (Kellie McCleve) Heaton, mother Erin Heaton, 7 siblings Brent and Draegan Heaton, Felicity, Joseph, Ephraim, Delilah, and Adam McCleve. Grandparents: Steve Heaton, Karen Phillips, John and Janet Woffinden, and Michael and Debbie Lord. Two great grandmothers: Marjory Woffinden and Elaine Phillips. Along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who all loved him dearly.
We would like to thank the numerous fire departments around the world that have reached out in sending love throughout this journey. A very special thanks to the medical staff at both Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah and Maria Fareri’s Children Hospital in Valhalla, New York. Thank you for the love, compassion, and care you provided him.
In lieu of flowers, please donate toys and gifts to the Children’s Miracle Network hospital nearest you in Xander’s name and memory.
