Wilma Joyce Hein Wichert, 92, passed away on April 30, 2020 in Orem, UT. She was born in Lafayette, CO on November 11, 1927 to Alvin Richard Hein and Katherine Sims. She married Ben Wichert on May 5, 1972 in Casper, WY.
Wilma was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served a year long mission with calls signed by two different Prophets. One call was a proselyting mission in Indianapolis Indiana, and then the call shifted to New Jersey, Morristown Family History mission.
Wilma loved doing genealogy and family history work. She also loved temple work, working in the Mount Timpanogos temple, working in the Family History Center, gardening, and serving others. Before losing her eyesight you could find her reading a good book. In her later years, she was a volunteer calling homebound individuals to help them feel important. She had the ability of remembering phone numbers in her head, since she could not see them on a piece of paper. She has always loved to sing, and had all the hymns memorized, and sang in the Covington branch Choir.
Special thanks to Covington Senior Living facility in Orem. Her time there has been delightful. She made many lifelong friends there. We also thank the IHC hospice team, and their staff for the loving care they gave Wilma in the final months of her life.
Survivors include her daughter Natalie (Kevin) Barton, grandchildren: Andrew (Kelsey) Barton and Emily Barton, and her brother Robert (Pauline) Hein. She is preceded in death by her husband Ben, parents, and 3 brothers, Marvin, Leland, and Howard.
