Wayne Kendrick

August 13, 1938 — November 15, 2024

Wayne Floyd Kendrick, 86, peacefully passed away at his home on November 15, 2024. Born on August 13, 1938, to Floyd Leland Kendrick and Erma Andrews in Cache Valley, Utah, Wayne grew up with a deep appreciation for family, faith, and hard work that defined his life.

After High School, Wayne joined the Army Reserves and served for two years before departing on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Western States Mission.

Wayne married the love of his life, LuAnn Lindquist, on May 21, 1960. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, and together they built a legacy of love, faith, and service. Together, they raised seven children: Kevin Kendrick, Katy, Texas; Corey (Tamra) Kendrick, North Logan, Utah; Curtis (Susan) Kendrick, Grover, North Carolina; Michael (Susan) Kendrick, Rochester, Minnesota; Kelly (Neal) Leavitt, American Fork, Utah; Nathan Kendrick, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Tyler (Janelle) Kendrick, South Jordan, Utah. They also adored their 26 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

A skilled electrical engineer, Wayne founded and ran Kendrick Electric for several years before embarking on a remarkable career with Fluor Daniels, which took him around the globe. His work spanned countries all over the world, including Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Indonesia, China, Chile, and Chad, Africa, as well as numerous locations across the United States. Everywhere he went, he shared the gospel and his testimony with others and placed many Book of Mormons. Throughout his travels, Wayne always loved returning home to his family, who remained the center of his world.

Wayne loved horses and had a passion for wood carving, fishing, and meticulously caring for his yard. His hands were rarely idle, whether creating intricate woodworks, reeling in the catch of the day, or planting and pruning in his beloved garden.

After retiring in 2006, Wayne and LuAnn served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Newark, New Jersey, a period of their lives they cherished deeply. Wayne's devotion to his faith was evident in his service as a missionary, Bishop, and a temple worker at the Mount Timpanogos Temple for over a decade.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, LuAnn; his children and their spouses; his siblings Sherrie Lynn Hall, Del Rio, Texas; Steve Kendrick, West Valley City, Utah; Jeff Kendrick, Friday Harbor, Washington; and Corey (Marianne) Kendrick, Bluffdale, Utah; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister Catherine.

A private family service will be held in his honor, and he will be laid to rest at the American Fork Cemetery. Wayne's legacy of love, service, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
