Virlen Gagon

Virlen Gagon, 87, passed away April 13, 2021 in American Fork, Utah.  He was born September 12, 1933 in Gusher, Utah to Irvin Ira Gagon and Lola Vervil Ferguson.  He married Alta Ferol Pont on October 20, 1956 in Ogden, Utah.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Oakland Temple.

Virlen was a very kind, love generous person who had open arms and a smile for everyone he met.  He loved his wife, children and grandchildren most of all.  He loved his Heavenly Father and his Savior Jesus Christ and the gospel.  Many wonderful years were spent with Ferol serving in the temple and also helping many prisoners learn and complete family history work. He also helped many of the youth he worked with and served in the Utah State Developmental Center Ward.

Virlen was a talker.  He loved to talk to his kids and tell them stories.  He also played the guitar and sang country western songs.  He could even yodel   He loved Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and was quite good asking the questions and solving the puzzles.  He used to belong to the motorcycle club “The Clunkers” and sometimes would take his children for rides on his motorcycle when they were young.  He loved camping and hiking and was a member of the Eagles Club.  He also pitched horseshoes and played golf with the whole plaid pants and tam outfit.  Virlen always routed for the underdog.

He is survived by his children: Ronald Gagon, Roy Gagon, Raymond Gagon, Renee (David) Tibbetts, Robin (Brent) Hutchinson, Rebecca Gagon (Jeff), 40 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren.  Virlen was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Ferol, his daughter Bonnie Jean Seibel.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 at 11 AM in the American Fork 32nd Ward, 270 North 900 East, American Fork.
