Tuula Anneli Jouste Hoggard, 83, passed away on January 4, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Born on February 28, 1940, in Mäntyharju, Finland, the daughter of Vilho Armas Johannes Jouste and Tyyne Matilda Nykänen Jouste.
She married Glen McCandless Hoggard on March 10, 1959, in Little Neck, New York, and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 20, 1961.
Tuula was a wonderful cook, and turned this skill into a career of over 40 years that ranged from running restaurants, catering events, and being a private chef. She loved to travel, visiting all fifty states and most of Europe, even though she hated flying. She always included friends and family on her trips, and took most of her grandchildren to Finland. She had a knack for handcrafts; sewing like an expert, knitting beautiful wool sweaters, and weaving rugs, table runners, and wall hangings on her loom. She loved flowers, and her home was filled with orchids that she successfully made bloom over and over again. Tuula was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include her children, Timo (Becky) Hoggard, Tiina Marie (David) Coon, Cindy (John) Starkovich, Lee (Melina) Hoggard, Keith (Angela) Hoggard; 21 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Veijo Jouste, Paula McClure, and Aila Gillespie. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen; and her son, Mark.
Funeral services will be held in the American Fork Cemetery (600 North Center Street) at 1:00 pm on Monday January 8, 2024.
