Terry Howard Davenport, age 69, passed away peacefully May 29, 2022 due to complications from open heart surgery. He was surround by his loving family.
Terry was the firstborn child of Janice Spencer and Howard Davenport, born on April 26, 1953. His sister Sharlene (Richard) was born less than two years later. Janice and Howard later divorced, and Howard (Dee Ann) was remarried. He had two more children, Colette (Cory) Nielson, and Deniece (Jared) Oates. Janice was remarried to Lee Wood, who raised Terry and Shar for most of his life.
Terry married Jacki Lyn Pilkington (later divorced), and together in Highland, they raised their three children: Joshua (Tonya) Davenport, Amanda (Matthew) Smith, and Wesley (Sara) Davenport. He was eventually a grandfather to seven grandchildren.
He had many hobbies throughout his life. For a time, he took great pride in his 1950's era Chevy's. He meticulously rebuilt two of them and received several awards at car shows. But few things gave him more joy than riding his horses in the Uintah's with his family and friends. Lee was central to Terry's love of the wild and was nearly always there riding alongside him across the trails. In his later years, Terry would swap out his horses for a fifth wheel camper, quads, and ATV.
Terry's love of machines led him to become a highly Skilled Diesel Mechanic. He held this title for his entire career, spanning more than 45 years. Most of his professional life was spent working for Ames Construction where he was greatly respected and formed many lasting friendships.
Wherever he lived, Terry always had the best lawn in the neighborhood. He was meticulous with his land and found pleasure in keeping a beautiful space. Yet, he was never too busy to help his neighbors. He frequently volunteered in neighborhood service projects. Many of his neighbors became lifelong friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Janice Wood, Howard Davenport and brother-in-law Richard Christensen.
