The family and friends of Tawna Carol Green are saddened to announce her passing. For her last four years she suffered from dementia, which is now the leading cause of death for people with Down's Syndrome. She has entered Heaven into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She often said, "I would do anything for Them." She is welcomed by her adoring parents, William LaMont and Norma Sant Green and her doting brother, Allen LaMont Green, who all preceded her in death. She is survived by her two loving sisters Cheryl and Linda Lee and their supportive husbands, Rick Cantrell and Wally Smith. She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews and their children. All of us are forever changed for the better by associating with Tawna and experiencing her goodness.
For the first 44 years of her life Tawna lived in Pocatello, ID, with her devoted parents, where she graduated from Pocatello High School and afterwards worked at Deseret Industries. Following her mother's death in 2006, Tawna moved to live with Cheryl and Rick in Kennewick, Washington. In 2015 she moved with them to American Fork, UT. Everywhere she lived, she made new friends, bringing laughter and sunshine into people's lives.
Anyone who met Tawna quickly learned that she thought they were beautiful or handsome. She saw the best in everyone. It was impossible to spend time with her and not feel happier and uplifted. She had a bright, infectious smile that lit up her face and spread out to fill your heart. She had a compliment for everyone, "I like your tie," "You're pretty," or "Nice hair." While listening to a birthday phone message from her nephew she had a big smile and said "I like him," "He is so nice," "He really loves me." Tawna was always kind, never held a grudge and freely forgave everyone, even those who were cruel to her. We are all blessed to have known an angel, right here on earth.
Tawna loved to make up jokes, watch movies, read books, dance, sing, bowl, cook, and teach part of Primary lessons. She taught in the Nursery for 20 years. She participated in the Special Olympics in Pocatello Idaho. She was a member of the ARC of the TriCities in Kennewick and the H.I.V.E.S. and SNAP programs in American Fork.
We thank the MAG program for helping us as caregivers and for supporting Tawna in attending BeeHive Homes Day Service twice a week this last year. We thank the staff of BeeHive Homes for loving her, and providing us with a much needed break. We thank Symbii Hospice Service for their kind, sincere and professional care and advice for the last few months of Tawna's life. It enabled us to keep her at home to share her peaceful passing. We thank all our family, friends, caregivers, "Tawna Tenders," and neighbors who loved and supported her through the years. She loved you back, unconditionally. As Tawna would say, "You are the BEST!" "You are my friend and my best friend."
As we celebrate Tawna's remarkable life, let us come together to honor her at her Funeral Service at 10 am, December 6, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in American Fork, 1305 N 100 East, with a public viewing starting at 9 am. Prior to this, a public viewing will be held on December 5, 2024, from 6-8 pm at Anderson and Sons American Fork Mortuary, 49 East 100 North. Tawna will be buried near her parents and brother in the Norton Cemetery in McCammon, Idaho. The dedication of her grave will be there on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2 pm.
