Suzanne Worthington

April 10, 1937 — August 23, 2024

Suzanne Armstrong Worthington, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Highland, Utah on August 23, 2024, having been lovingly cared for by her family. She was born on April 10, 1937, in Manti, Utah. Her parents, Norma Harmon and Kenton Alif Armstrong, had four daughters: Norma and Beth, twins who died at birth, Kenna Rae, and Suzanne. Her father tragically drowned in 1938 when Suzanne was fourteen months old.

Suzanne was a dutiful and loving daughter and was extremely close to her mother throughout her life. Growing up in Manti, she cultivated many special friendships and especially loved spending time with her sister, grandparents, and cousins.

Suzanne graduated from Manti High School in 1955 and attended Snow College and Brigham Young University. She enjoyed working for New York Life and later as a public relations representative at the telephone company in Salt Lake City before her marriage.

Suzanne married the love of her life, Kay Thomas Worthington, for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 11, 1966, and they were blessed with six children.

She worked as a full-time mother for many years. When her children were older, she worked as a Title 1 Resource Aide in the Granite School District in Salt Lake City, blessing the lives of countless children. She cherished her colleagues, "The Roosevelt Group," and "The Millcreek Mafia." She had the opportunity to visit Israel, Egypt, and several countries in Europe with her husband and was blessed to make many wonderful friends there.

Suzanne was blessed with the gift of loving others and found great joy in her friendships. Throughout her life, neighbors and friends would often drop by to visit and be uplifted by her kind attention. She served as a caregiver for many. Her children, grandchildren, mother, granny, mother-in-law, widows, single mothers, and many others in need were blessed by her tireless service.

She had a remarkable gift for memorization and an ability to teach young children. She spent many hours sharing rhymes, poems, and songs with her children and grandchildren. She also loved playing games and reading with them.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her life of service resulted from her steadfast testimony of Jesus Christ, His gospel, and His marvelous power. She served faithfully in many callings, including as Relief Society President in the Grant 2nd/Springview Ward, where she had many lifelong friends. Suzanne and Kay served as missionaries at the Utah State Prison. Toward the end of her life, she served as a temple worker in the Mount Timpanogos LDS Temple.

She is survived by her children, Laura Kay, Katherine, Michelle (Joe), Kenton (Veronika), Suzanne Marie (Jacob), and Richard, 16 grandchildren-Jacob (Camille), Luke (Emily), Isaac, Daniel, Jeremiah, Levi, Bella, Sandrine, Julia, Elise, Lilly, Lenore, Elijah, Stella, and one great grand son, Micah, who are all grateful for her life, which was a witness of her love for and faithfulness to our Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sisters, with whom she is now enjoying a glorious reunion!
