Steven L Westover of Highland, UT passed away in Murray, UT on December 7, 2021 due to complications from surgery, surrounded by Jeanie, his wife of 53 years and all five of his children.
He was born October 2, 1946 in Logan, UT to Charles Marcus and Leah Farrell Westover. He was raised on his family’s farm in Lewiston, the youngest of four children. He learned the value of hard work at an early age, milking cows, feeding chickens, driving trucks and working in the fields.
Steve attended schools in Cache County where he always had a thirst for knowledege. He was valedictorian at North Cache High School in Richmond, UT when he graduated in 1964.
He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a missionary in the New England States mission from 1966 - 1968 serving under mission president, Boyd K. Packer. He attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT where he met the love of his life, Jeanie Lee Beeston from Everett, WA. They were sealed in the Logan Temple on June 10, 1968.
He worked for Amalgamated Sugar Co. in Lewiston, UT and then transferred with his family to Gooding, ID to work for Gooding Seed Co.
In 1984 he and Jeanie built a new home in Highland where they have lived for 37 years. Steve worked for Intermountain Farmers Assoc. and then moved to Steve Regan Co. where he served as General Manager for many years.
He was highly respected and a frequently consulted industry expert in the field of agriculture.
Steve was beloved for his tireless work ethic and service to his family. He had an extensive love for the outdoors. He taught each of his children and 20 grandchildren to snow ski and was always up for an adventure like jumping off Cliff Clavin with his kids at Snowbird or paddle board racing with his grandkids. He loved BYU sports, cooking, making homemade chocolate turtles and building homemade projects including playhouses and treehouses.
Gifted with a green thumb, Steve and Jeanie loved to work together in the beautifully landscaped yard they designed and maintained. They cultivated perennial flowers and vegetables to share with their children. In service to their community, they maintained a garden area at the Highland City Cemetery with beautiful plants they cultivated. Many yards and homes in the community have been blessed with plants they divided and seeds they gathered.
Steve was involved in church service and was grateful for the many opportunities he had to serve.
