Stephen Cram Masterson

July 7, 1949 — August 3, 2023

In Loving Memory of Stephen Cram Masterson:

Stephen Cram Masterson, a beloved son, father, husband, and friend, passed away on August 3rd, 2023 at the age of 74. He was born on July 7, 1949, in Kanab, UT, to Rollan A. and Mabel Cram Masterson. Stephen's life was a tapestry of adventures and passions, leaving an indelible mark on those who were fortunate to know him.

As a child, Steve's spirit was as boundless as the red rock cliffs that surrounded his family home in Kanab. He shared his love for climbing and exploration with his siblings, many cousins, and friends, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. Steve's connection to nature was evident in his fondness for swimming at Three Lakes near Kanab and visiting family in Moccasin, AZ.

In 1959, Steve's family relocated to Orem, UT, where he continued to exhibit his adventurous spirit. He graduated from Orem High School in 1967, a milestone that marked the beginning of his journey into adulthood.

A devoted patriot, Steve served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 at Ft. Lewis, WA, displaying the same commitment and courage that characterized his life.

Steve's heart was forever intertwined with the lives of his loved ones. He married Sue Sermersheim in 1970, and their union was blessed with a son, Jeremy Slade Masterson. Later, on April 20th, 1996, he found happiness once again with his marriage to Robyn Shoell Harding.  Steve's role as a father, husband, and grandfather brought him great joy, and his love and
dedication knew no bounds.

A man of diverse interests, Steve found solace and fulfillment in the great outdoors. Whether fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, or embarking on long rides, he reveled in the beauty of the natural world. His passion extended to tying his own fishing flies, a skill that became a source of pride and accomplishment.

Steve's craftsmanship and dedication were evident in his profession as a carpenter. He skillfully built custom homes, showcasing his talent and leaving a lasting legacy in the form of the home he built for his family in Springville, UT, in 1978.

Steve is survived by his son, Jeremy Slade Masterson, and wife Justine Masterson, along with his cherished grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew, and Kolby Masterson. He is also survived by his former wife, Sue Masterson, and his beloved wife, Robyn Masterson. His presence will be deeply missed by his stepchildren: Tricia Jenkins, Kassie Larson, and Logan Harding, along
with his grandchildren: Cienna Rowberry, Austin Mathis, Hailey and Abby Wheeler. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever shape their lives.
Steve is preceded in death by his siblings: Foster, Phil, Wayne, and Roma. He is survived by his siblings Royce, Fred, Pamela, and Mary, who will continue to carry his spirit in their hearts.
