Stephen Durant

December 12, 1954 — December 6, 2021

Stephen “Steve” or “Buzz” Durant passed away on the morning of December 6, 2021 after a short and intense battle with Covid-19. He fought hard and held on long enough for all his family to see him before he quietly slipped away to his next adventure.

Having joined the Australian Army as a teenager and learning to drive tanks and heavy artillery, he quietly harbored dreams of flying.

Steve saw Jane and pursued her for months till his affection finally hit its mark. Love ensued, and they were sealed in the New Zealand temple a year later.  After 6 kids and 20 years in Australia, Steve’s dreams took flight. It was time for a change and the USA beckoned. Settling in American Fork and chasing the Pilot’s dream, Steve aggressively sought his aviation career, spending 15 years as a pilot with Skywest.

Steve’s passionate hobby and fascination with history led to travels around the US and overseas. From Washington D.C. to Normandy, France,  Bastogne in Belgium, Berlin, Germany and Auschwitz in Poland. Wanting to share his knowledge of freedom and liberty utilizing his background in instructing, he became a Shoot Boss and expert marksman for Project Appleseed.

Upon his official retirement, he became his own boss founding Bushranger Tactical. He loved sharing his knowledge, working at Gunnies. The deep product knowledge, excitable passion and rough Aussie accent combined with the laid back attitude and terrible Dad jokes will ensure he is always remembered fondly and lovingly.

Steve is survived by his wife, Jane, his 6 children and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother and three sisters who reside in Australia.

He was deeply loved, and will be missed by his family and friends.
