Sibyl Luck

January 12, 1919 — February 5, 2015

Sibyl Luck, 96, of Orem, Utah died peacefully on February 5, 2015 after a long, full life. Sibyl was born on January 12, 1919 in Vernal, Utah to Gladys Goodrich and James Henry Karren. She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on February 5, 1927. She married Ronald (Bob) Luck on November 24, 1939 in Vernal, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 21, 1941.
She worked for many years for the Alpine School District baking all sorts of delightful things for the kids. She worked until the age of 70. During that time she made many friendships which she cherished throughout her lifetime. Sibyl's hands were never idle. She was known for her beautiful crocheting, porcelain dolls, embroidery, quilts and ceramics. She passed down many of her talents to her family and friends. Many of her beautiful works of art still adorn our homes today. As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served in many positions and touched the lives of many others through her visiting teaching.
Sibyl was a woman of strength and compassion. She loved being surrounded by family and was proud of their accomplishments. Her home was always open for a good conversation and cookies. She was a good listener no matter what your age. You could count on her to be honest, funny and have an outstanding memory for family genealogy.
Sibyl is survived by her three children: Karren (Ken) Black, Wayne (Theresa) Luck and Christine Luck. She has 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren with three more on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Geraldine Black. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Milton and Doug Karren.
There will be a service to celebrate her life on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 11:00, with a viewing from 9:45 to 10:45. There will also be a viewing on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening. All services will take place at Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork, Utah.
Those of us who were privileged enough to know her, know that "Heaven shines a little brighter today" because of her presence.
