Shirley McEwan

Shirley "Sam" McEwan, age 71, passed away on August 1, 2022, in Pleasant Grove, Utah.


Sam was born on August 27th, 1950, to Austin Mecham McEwan & Margaret M Clark. Sam grew up in Lindon, Utah, a happy, beautiful, bubbly, curly blond-haired girl. She was once Crowned Little Miss Lindon at a very young age appearing in events and the annual county parades.


Sam started out on her own at the very young age of only 14 yrs old. Mom often told the story that "As a little girl, she would ask God in her prayers each night for four children," wanting two boys and two girls.


Sam married soon after leaving her parent's home; at age 16, she had the first of her four children, eventually adding three more and receiving the answers to her prayers two boys and two girls.


Sam desired constant change, making life a bit challenging at times. However, she did make Life Long Friends along the way. These friends, though few in numbers, were always by Mom's side, no matter what change she sought next. These friends, like family, became a source of stability for us children when stability seemed hard to find.


"Sam" enjoyed long car rides while listening to her favorite music; she loved spending time outdoors, hunting arrowheads with her Father and her younger brothers in Utah's west desert.


Sam enjoyed metal detecting; she could sometimes be found on a lake shore with an egg salad sandwich in hand, waiting on the fish to bite. She enjoyed camping, a hot cup of coffee, and a good conversation with her friends.


Sam also enjoyed cooking meals, entertaining family & friends, laughing with her children, rain and thunderstorms, and fun weekend trips to Wendover or Mesquite. Sam worked in several jobs, but her longest one being a Medicaid Eligibility Specialist for the State of Utah.


Sam is survived by her 4 children Donnie (Lisa) Jones, Kristi (Charles) Case, Jennifer Jensen, Blu Ryan (Marissa) Robinson 19 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grand Children; Siblings Laurel Banta, Bob (Connie) McEwan, and Richard (Elanna) McEwan.


Shirley "Sam" McEwan was preceeded in death by parents Austin Mecham McEwan and Margaret M McEwan; a sister Dorothy Beaumont and a brother Douglas K McEwan

A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 27th 2022, at Pleasant Springs Complex Community Building at 884 W 700 S Pleasant Grove, Utah, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Please come to remember "Sam," Our Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, and Friend.
