Shellie Long Kendrick, 43, passed away on the morning of Saturday, April 27th, 2024. She had battled and survived 12 years with breast cancer, and spent her final days with the love and support of family in the comfort of her home.
She was born on Thursday, December 18th, 1980 to Mark Long and Lynda Taylor in Heber City, Utah. Her family moved and changed while growing up, but she finished high school in Ammon, Idaho, where she graduated from Hillcrest High School in the class of 1999 alongside and with the help of dear friend Sharla Boyle Mann and family.
After graduating, Shellie moved to Utah County to attend Utah Valley State College. While at UVSC, Shell would meet the love of her life, Chad Kendrick. They married on May 11th, 2002 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they welcomed two wonderful children - Dallen Chad Kendrick and Katelyn Sara Kendrick. They relocated to Georgia in the summer of 2007, and returned to Utah in early 2014.
Shellie made lifelong friends in all the places she lived and will be deeply missed by all. She was a kind and loving person whose wonderful light brought joy to those who knew her, and her humor was unmatched.
Shellie was a deeply creative soul who enjoyed many forms of art. She was an avid blogger and social media user, and was very proud of her progress on writing and self expression. Also an avid painter, she gifted her art to others as a way of sharing memories with them. She enjoyed physical projects like knitting, furniture flipping, and alternative media art pieces. Shellie was someone who enjoyed adventure - she was an avid traveler with both family and friends. Even with the difficulties brought on by chronic illness, Shellie fought to continue experiencing life and forming memories with her loved ones throughout.
She is survived by her husband, Chad; son, Dallen (21); daughter, Kate (17); mother and step-father, Lynda & Bruce Taylor; father and step-mother Mark & Sonia Long; brother, Austin (Lela) Long; and sisters, Stephanie (Scott) Carsrud, Lacey Taylor, and Kat (Josh) Newman; maternal grandparents, Dale & Louise Murdock; also survived by 14 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Leslie & Elaine Long.
