In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 29, 2024, Shannon Martindale peacefully transitioned from this life to the next after a tearful and wonderful "we'll see you soon" gathering, enveloped in the love of her family. The room was full as generations took turns bidding a temporary farewell to their beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Sister. All were blessed to be able to express to her their love and have it reciprocated by Shannon in the most loving ways as they sobbed, laughed, held hands, embraced, exchanged "I love you" in sign language, and there were even more than a few of her favorite "lip kisses."
A devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, Shannon was a lifelong student of the gospel who found great solace and joy in daily study of the scriptures and writings of the Apostles and Prophets. She was in constant communication with her Heavenly Father and systematically prayed for the power of Heaven to help those in need.
In addition to her massive faith, Shannon was known for her deep wisdom, gained in part through the practice of Recovery, a method which provides tools to overcome depression and mental health issues. 30 years of her learning culminated in the writing of her book Seeking Psychology in Scripture, which was published in 2012. In her book she states that although she taught school for twenty years, her greatest education was "in the 'University Without Walls,' the college of daily life where the homework of experience never ceases."
Shannon was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don Alan Martindale and her sister Robyn Webber Thompson, whom she adored. She is survived by her children Laurie (Daniel) Seron, John (Tresa) Martindale, Shane (Michele) Monson, Shaun Monson, Cherstyn (Matt) Stockwell, 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
