Serhii Yurievich Piatykh, 43, passed away from a heart attack on January 9, 2017 at home in Spanish Fork, Utah. Born on March 10, 1973 to Yuri Kirillovich and Tatiana Efimovna Piatykh. He married Ana Esther Nerio on September 8, 2016 in American Fork, Utah.
He will always be remembered for his big heart and willingness to serve others, and his strong work ethic. He served in the Soviet Army until, when the Soviet Union dissolved, he awoke one morning and was a member of the Ukrainian Army instead. He spoke Russian and Ukrainian yet was sent to the Provo MTC to learn English before he served an honorable LDS mission to Yekaterinburg, Russia. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Construction Management.
Serhii is survived by his wife, Ana; two step-children, Esther and Armando; his mother, Tatiana; brothers, Andrey and Victor Piatykh; foster parents, Kirk and Shannon Magleby; foster siblings: Rock, Richard, Karin, and Ellen; and foster grandmothers, LaRae Savage and Colleen Magleby.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary at 49 East 100 North, American Fork. A viewing will be held at the mortuary from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 19 and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday prior to the services. Burial will be in the veterans section of the Provo City Cemetery.
