Scott Pearce

September 20, 1942 — September 7, 2021

Scott LeGrand Pearce age 78, returned Home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday September 7th, 2021. He was born on September 20th, 1942 in South Gate, California to his loving parents, Donal and Eileen (Agren) Pearce. He grew up in the area of Riverside, California and was the 5th of nine children. At age 12, Scott had a paper route. Through his hard work, his route expanded and he won several contests that included tickets to Disneyland.

Scott graduated Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1960. While attending, he became knowledgeable of the printing trade and worked in the school’s print shop. After graduating Riverside Polytechnic High School, he attended Brigham Young University (BYU) for one semester before choosing to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was called to serve in the Sweden mission for 2 ½ years. For half of his mission, he served as the Secretary of Publications, printing lesson materials in Swedish. Before returning home from his mission, he was able to spend a month touring Europe with one of his cousins. After his tour of Europe he returned home to Hawaii, where his parents had relocated to. He immediately fell in love with Hawaii and attended one semester at the Church College of Hawaii, now Brigham Young University Hawaii. Shortly after, Scott along with the family, relocated to Utah.

Scott joined The Utah Army National Guard and was honorably discharged after five years of service. While in the Army National Guard, he attended the Utah Police Academy and became a Police Officer for Provo City. While at the Academy, his future wife Sandra Lorraine Black, was attending BYU and the two of them met through a mutual friend. They dated for eight months and were then married in the Salt Lake City Temple on April, 29th, 1968. Scott and Sandi have seven children: Shelli (Rasmussen), Sheri (Hooper), Shawn, Stacie (Baca), Spencer, Susan (Shaw) and Stephanie. Throughout the years, Scott and Sandi lived in Utah, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia and Colorado.

His printing knowledge led him to work at print shops for over ten years in Utah, Florida, and South Carolina. His experience landed him a job with Reynolds and Reynolds, a company that provides business forms to car dealerships. That opportunity relocated the family to Roanoke, Virginia. Scott’s love for cars and his salesman ability, led to several awards and accolades. In 1983, Scott purchased seven video store franchises. He and Sandi, along with several of their children, managed the video stores for several years. In 1998, the family relocated to Colorado to be near his ailing parents and some of his siblings. In Colorado, Scott worked alongside Sandi at a human resource outsourcing company until he retired. He and Sandi moved to Utah in 2018.

He was very active in his church and held several callings including Bishop in Florida and in Virginia. Scott was a temple worker at both the Denver Temple and The Mount Timpanogos Temple. He loved serving and working with the missionaries. Scott’s greatest joy was his sweetheart Sandi and his children. He loved his weekly “Date Nights” with Sandi and spending time with his family playing games, watching movies, and cooking. His proudest calling will always be that of a husband, father and grandfather.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Donal and Eileen and his brother Donal Pearce. Scott is survived by his wife, Sandi, his children, 25 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, his siblings, LaReta (Brinkerhoff), Lewis, Cheryl (Dilworth), Carolyn (Buchanan-Curtis), Aleta (Madsen), Darryl, Lynette (Evanson).
