On February 15, 2019, Scott James Moffitt (66) returned to his loving Father in Heaven and his other family members who were waiting to embrace him there. Scott was born to Lavar and Marilyn Moffitt on December 26, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was raised in Sandy, Utah and graduated from Brighton High School. Later he earned his Associate degree from Dixie College. Following college, Scott faithfully served in the England Central (Birmingham) mission and prayed mightily that his sweetheart Sherryl Ann Handy was waiting for him- and she was! On July 30, 1976, Scott and Sherryl were sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo Utah temple. Together they raised three daughters and one son.
For most of his professional life Scott was a commercial truck driver and liked the fact that he wasn’t stuck in an office. Scott was a friend to all and loved to spend time getting to know the people in his sphere of influence. His tender heart, work ethic, and thirst for knowledge drew many to him. He loved to be in the great outdoors and spent many vacations camping with his family. Scott loved working with his hands. He designed and built his Sandy home. He filled his home with beautiful handmade furniture and could fix anything in it (including his family).
Scott is survived by his wife Sherryl and his children: Lisa (Chad), Jessica (Ryan), Lindsey (Preston), and Michael; and grandchildren: Holden, Elliot, Payton, Luke, Annie, Delaney, Oliver, Rhett, Sebastian and Amelia. He is also survived by his father Lavar, brothers Kelly (Jackie) and Layne (Sesha), and sister Becky (Cal). He was preceded in death by his mother Marilyn.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 21st at 11am in the Alpine West Stake Center (327 S. Long Drive Court, Alpine, UT 84004). A viewing will be held prior to the service on Thursday from 9:30-10:30am. Please share a memory at andersonmortuary.com
