Scott Jason McCleskey, age 56, passed away suddenly March 11, 2019 at his home in American Fork, UT. He was born on September 19, 1962 in Turlock, California to Billy Joe & Beverly Jean McCleskey. He spent the next couple decades growing up, going to school, and playing water polo in town, but eventually followed the love of his life, Susan Shumway, back to Utah after serving two years in Argentina on an LDS mission. It was there they finished school at Brigham Young University and started their family. Together they raised five children, settled in American Fork, and built a beautiful life amongst friends and loved ones. Known for his quick wit and spontaneous dance moves, Scott had a contagious zest for life. The outdoors drew his attention time and time again, taking every opportunity to camp and take long car rides into the mountains and deserts. He had a passion for learning that resulted in a vast library of his favorite topics including history and politics. Scott cared for many people throughout his time here on earth and was always willing to be of service to others. Whether that meant lending his time (and truck), cooking up some grub on the grill, or playing his favorite 80’s hair bands at a party, he loved to serve and support the ones he loved.
Scott married Susan Shumway on June 19, 1987 in the Manti, Utah Temple. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Scott is survived by his wife, Susan, and children: Clinton (Tess), ShaNae (Spenser), Brayden (Maddie), Sabyn (Nolan) & Jason, who is currently serving in the Sydney Australia Mission. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Sophie ShaNae Matheson.
