Samuel Peter Wold, age 35, departed this life on April 22, 2023, leaving behind his wife Lisa, and their four boys: Daniel, Matthew, Michael, and Johnathan. He leaves his mother, Susan Wold, and brothers Eric (Felicia), David (Paris), and Andrew (Ruth). Samuel was born on March 30, 1988, to Steven and Susan Wold, as the youngest of 10 children.
He grew up in Fairfax County, Virginia, before his family moved to Cameron, Missouri during his teenage years. In Missouri, he met his wife Lisa, and they married in the Winter Quarter's Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 27, 2011. Together they welcomed four boys, and traversed the ups and downs of undergraduate college, a Master's Degree in Statistics, and his career as a Model Risk Analyst for Zion's Bancorporation.
Samuel was loved by so many people, and he loved life. Samuel loved all things music and took singing lessons for several years as a young man, performed in many choirs, and played the bagpipes beautifully. He was a humble man who thought his skills were only fair, but his friends and family delighted in hearing him play whenever they could. Despite disliking car rides, Samuel loved to see new places and spent many days with his family exploring state and national parks, museums, and attending concerts. He loved games of all kinds, and spent countless hours playing board games, card games, dice games, computer games, and video games with loved ones. Samuel loved the outdoors, and hiking, and he loved to try so many different kinds of food. One of his favorite restaurants was a little family Bosnian diner, which had the best pita bread, according to him. He adored bread of all kinds, and his wife often joked that even though scriptures say "man cannot live by bread alone," Samuel tried to prove it wrong on many occasions. Most of all, Samuel loved people. He adored his wife and children, and he rejoiced in spending time with them. He reached out to others and was the first to offer a helping hand. Samuel lived his life believing the best of people, and giving the benefit of the doubt, always.
During his three-year battle with cancer, Samuel provided a quiet strength to his family and was an example of faith and endurance to those around him. His favorite quote was from Ronald Reagan: "I know in my heart that man is good, that what is right will always eventually triumph and that there is purpose and worth to each and every life." Samuel strived and succeeded in being just that - he was a good man. One who loved life and living, and tried his hardest every day to be the best person he could.
