Ryan Evans

Ryan Andrew Evans passed away on October 4, 2022, surrounded by family, from injuries sustained in an accidental fall.

Ryan was born on April 27, 1957, in Walnut Creek, California.  He graduated from College Park High School and Utah State University, where he received a BA degree in Sociology and a Master of Social Sciences in Public Administration.  He worked in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff, SWAT Team member, paramedic, captain, task force commander, detective, and investigator for 40 years until his retirement in April 2022.

Ryan was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a teenager and served a Church Mission to Bolivia from 1978 to 1980.  He later served in a variety of Church callings, including Bishop, High Counselor, Young Men Advisor and Young Single Adult advisor.

Ryan married Deena Bown in 1980 and they were blessed with four children: Mindy, Stacey, Lindsey and Tanner.  They were married for 32 years.  He later married Kim Johnson.  Ryan and Kim were building their dream home in Ashton, Idaho at the time of his passing.

Ryan was an active hunter and fisherman throughout his adult life.  He boasted numerous hunting trophies, including a large black bear he shot with his own hand-made bow.

Ryan is survived by his wife Kim; children Mindy Andrus (Brant), Stacey Rosewaren (Mark), Lindsey Long (Tristan) and Tanner Evans (Paris), step-children; Jerrica Hancock (Jeff) and Shawn Olson (Kate); mother Helen Morton; sister Sharlene Evans (Brian); step-sister Susan McMillian; and 13 grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 975 North 60 East, American Fork, UT at 11:00 a.m.  A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 9:15-10:45 a.m.
