Ruth Bateman

December 1, 1944 — March 1, 2025

Ruth Bateman, beloved aunt and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on March 1, 2025, in Hooper, Utah. Born on December 1, 1944, in American Fork, Utah, to Frank Thayne Bateman and Louise Hayward Bateman, Ruth embraced life with a warmth and laughter that touched everyone she met.

Ruth married Michael Cragun Foulger on July 1, 1963, in Preston, Idaho. Immediately after, they moved to Washington D.C., where she spent several years. Following her divorce from Michael, Ruth returned to Utah, where she dedicated herself to her work with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before transitioning to a successful career in banking. Her professional life culminated at Discover Card, where she retired at the age of 62, having made lasting connections and impacts throughout her career.

Family was the cornerstone of Ruth's life. She was deeply invested in the lives of her family members, celebrating milestones and providing unwavering support to her 12 nieces and nephews and their 26 children. Ruth's love for her family was boundless, leaving a legacy that will continue through generations.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Margaret Vance, and sister-in-law, Julie Bateman, along with her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who were all her favorites.

In honor of Ruth's wishes, a short viewing and service will take place from 11:00-11:30 on Monday, March 10th at the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, located at 6141 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah. Following the viewing, she will be laid to rest in the Alpine Cemetery next to her mother and father.

In honoring Ruth's legacy, we invite all who knew her to share their memories on her Tribute Wall at www.AndersonMortuary.com. As we reflect on her life, we will celebrate the joy, love, and laughter she brought into our lives. Ruth will be sorely missed but forever remembered.
