It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roy Melvin Pehrson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He passed peacefully on January 11, 2025 at the age of 83 due to complications related to Parkinson's Disease. His wife and daughter were by his side.
Born in Salt Lake City, UT, he graduated from Granite High School in 1960 where he Lettered in basketball, football, and baseball. He attended Dixie College as well as the University of Utah where he excelled as quarterback and pitcher. He graduated with a degree in physical education in 1965, later receiving his master's degree from BYU. He was a dedicated teacher, mentor, coach and administrator at Alpine School District for 35 years and an adjunct professor at Utah Valley University for 10 yrs. He will be remembered for his integrity, work ethic, athleticism, amazing story-telling abilities, tenderness, crazy nicknames and love of family and God. He worked very hard to provide for his family.
He loved gardening, carpentry, and was an avid BYU football fan. He not only had a love of sports but also valued good sportsmanship and taught this to his players. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a full-time mission in Canada. He had a deep testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and lived by its principles in all he did. He was a good friend and devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Faye Pehrson, his 6 children - Cleve (Sergio), Ty (Denise), Trent (JoAnna), Nate (Rachelle), Jill (Timm) and Sam, 25 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and siblings Renny, Fred, Cindy, and Gil.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday January 17, 2025 at the Alpine 8th ward 890 N. Heritage Hills Drive, Alpine, UT. A visitation will be 10:30-11:45 am at the church prior to the services. Burial in the Alpine City cemetery.
