Dr. Ronald Lynn Bruening returned to his heavenly home surrounded by his family on April 8, 2024 after a 4-month battle with cancer. Ron was born on March 27, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah as the oldest of three children born to Milton and Linda Bruening.
Ron grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and Maryville, Missouri. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taipei, Taiwan, and attended Brigham Young University. There, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemistry.
A natural scholar, Ron became a world-class scientist. He spent his career at IBC Advanced Technologies, becoming the Vice President of Research and Development. He executed projects around the world and was recently listed as one of Stanford University’s Top 2% of Scientists Worldwide.
Ron married his sweetheart, Lynne McDaniel, for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 13, 1996. He was the father of five children and raised them in American Fork, Utah. Ron was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa.
The first priority of Ron’s life was always his Heavenly Father. He was a man of great faith and strong conviction. He consecrated his life to serving in the church, and especially loved serving in musical callings and teaching the gospel. He was known for leading enormous ward choirs, arranging elaborate musical numbers, and serving as the Primary Chorister up until his passing.
Ron is survived by his parents Milton and Linda Bruening; his wife, Lynne McDaniel Bruening; his loving children Sean Bruening (Aislynn), Christie Foley (Scott), Scott Bruening, Rebekah Bruening-Dixon (Kevin), and Rachel Bruening; his beautiful grandchildren Kimball, Ivy, Emery, and June; and his siblings, Merlin Bruening (Karen) and Susan Caswell (David).
A viewing will be held at the Hillcrest 5th Ward, 680 N 350 W American Fork, Utah on April 12, 2024 at 1:15-2:45 PM. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude’s hospital. Please share a memory on Ronald's tribute wall.
