Robert Roe Wilcock (Bob, Handy Bob, Papa Smurf, Dad, and Papa), peacefully passed away at the age of 87 on September 4, 2024, in Orem, Utah surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 18, 1936, in Cedar City, Utah, he was the son of Richard and Dorothy Wilcock. On May 4, 1963, he was married to his “little berry” Gail Elizabeth Berry in the St. George Temple for time and all eternity. Robert served in the Army from 1959 to 1965. He then attended Utah Technical College and graduated in 1968. He joined the Las Vegas local 525 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and remained a loyal union member until he retired.
As his children, we were able to share in his love of fishing, hunting, and enjoying the outdoors. We remember sitting on the porch watching thunderstorms, sharing his love of fireworks with his neighbors, and regularly getting together with family and friends. When we were young, he loved to take us to explore the mining ghost towns in Nevada and California. He prepared a mean Christmas morning breakfast, and he loved to cook in his dutch oven. He was kind, and generous with his time and many talents. He was a great listener and a great friend who was always there to lend a helping hand. He was a man you could rely on and who held an unwavering commitment to his faith, country, wife, and his family throughout his life.
Robert is survived by his wife, Gail Berry, children, Tina (Radford) Smith, Traci Wilcock, Tami (Shad) Chipman, Susan Williams, Scott (Mario) Wilcock, Richard (Sally) Wilcock, David (Emily) Wilcock, Lora Leigh (Dale) Brand, 30 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Robert is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Dorothy Wilcock, sister Loraine Johnson, sister Kareen Robb, brother Steven Wilcock, and grandchildren Dakota and Kensington.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Robert Wilcock will be at 10:30 am, Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Cholla Street Chapel, 303 S. Cholla Street, Henderson, NV 89015.
