Richard Stephen Wilber was born December 22nd, 1959, to George Fredrick Wilber and Irene E Miller in Auburn, New York. He passed away August 3rd, 2024 in Montpelier, Idaho at just 64 years old due to a sudden cardiovascular event.
Stephen grew up with three brothers and two sisters in the back countryside of New York. He spent his days hunting, fishing, terrorizing local farmers by lying in their fields during harvest, and taking apart, tinkering with, and/or blowing up junk cars with his brothers.
In August 2000, Stephen met his future wife Sandra Ann Monson and moved out to Utah. Between the two of them, they already had nine children. Sandy came with five and Stephen with four living with their mother in New York. They were married on July 12th, 2001 and brought a tenth child into their family.
Stephen was a gentle soul wrapped up in a gruff and stubborn exterior. He'd argue to the death if he thought he was right, but would also drop everything to go help the second anyone in his family needed him. He had a particularly strong bond with his grandchildren, and would spend hours making them giggle with games and outdoor adventures. His last words were to his youngest granddaughter, who'd been playing on the ground by his feet.
The love Stephen had for his family was only rivaled by his love for the New York Yankees, Buffalo Bills, Mountain Dew, and his never-ending desire to be hunting in the woods.
The world is a darker place without him in it. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Irene Wilber. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Wilber, and his children, Stephanie Das Gupta, Bryant Baker (Masako Baker), Scott Baker (Monika Baker), Jessica Shultis (Jason Shultis), Joshua Wilber (Chelsea Bisignano), Tashia Floyd (Isaac Floyd), Victoria Lisowski (Henry Lisowski), Jade Baker, Summer Simmons (George Simmons), and Forrest Monson; as well as his honorary son Vincent Bolde, and his grandchildren, Myriam and Jovie Whiting, Joseph and Sara Baker, Stella Shultis, Avonlea and Cambria Wilber, Owen Floyd, Ahlia and Jensen Lisowski, and Koda and Corina Simmons.
