Patricia Louise ("Pat") Sunderland Pritchett, 84, passed away from causes incident to age on March 23, 2025 in Provo, Utah. She was born on a blustery Saturday-March 15, 1941-in Nephi, Utah to Jarold Louis Sunderland and Marvel Davis. She married Bruce Michael Pritchett on June 19, 1964 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Pat loved school and was proud to say that her father was an honors graduate of Notre Dame University. She graduated from American Fork High School in 1959 and then graduated from BYU in 1963 with a major in sociology and a minor in recreation.
For 3 summers between her college courses, she worked at Bryce Canyon as a cabin maid, soda jerk, and sales clerk at the curio shop. She remembered her summers at Bryce Canyon as one of the most carefree, fun times of her life. She performed in several park shows, which she enjoyed greatly.
After graduating from BYU, Pat went to work as a social worker at the Utah State Training School, helping children who had extensive special needs, together with their families. She considered this work one of the choice experiences of her life.
Pat was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She typed her husband's papers for his Ph.D program at Purdue and typed the rough draft of his doctoral dissertation. She attended her children's sporting events and dance recitals and took a remarkable degree of pride in keeping a clean, orderly home for her family. She served on the PTA at Edgemont Elementary, where her children attended school.
She was a breast cancer survivor of more than 40 years and volunteered frequently with the American Cancer Society.
Pat loved her little dogs Jago (a Yorkie), Splah (a mutt), Poquita (a chihuahua), and Oscar (a Lhasa Apso mix). She also loved watching ballet, skiing at Alta, reading, writing poetry, and spending many summers in Maui, Hawaii with her husband.
Pat was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served the church in many callings with the Young Women and Relief Society.
She is survived by her 3 children, Bruce (Kim) Pritchett; Laura (Buddy) Blankenfeld; and Steven (Brooke) Pritchett, as well as 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sister, Cora (Sonny) Jckowski. Preceded in death by her sister, Susan (Gary) Schiffman.
