1934-2022

Norma Evensen was born Norma Rae Bracken on November 21, 1934, in Tooele, Utah, to Arthur Vern Bracken and Edith Viola Tate. She passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2022.

Norma was raised and attended school in Tooele, Utah. She met the love of her life, Edward Evensen while attending high school in Tooele. They were married June 12, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple. Norma was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life and held many positions in the Church. Together Norma and Ed raised 8 children with unconditional love. While most of her life, she stayed home performing the critical role of mother, she helped her husband in his work as manager of a grocery store and when all her children were raised, she worked as a cashier at Christensen’s department store in American Fork.

She is survived by her children Carol Ann Hardman (Randy), Pam Moe, Debby, Terri Bendixsen (Steve), Lloyd (Marie), Sally, and Fred (Lar), sister- in-law LaNile Bracken, brother-in-law Mel Evensen (Janice), 34 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. All of whom love her dearly and will miss her. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; daughter, Dawna; son- in-law, George; and 1 great-grandson. She was also preceded by her parents, brothers Lee (Edith and Blanche), Reid (Saxon), and Floyd; sisters Clarice Lee (Joe), and Helen George (Cliff) and her sisters-in-law Rhea Castagno (LaVere), and Ruth Broadbent (Gil).

A viewing will be held Wednesday, June 1, at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E 100 North, American Fork, Utah, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the 5th Ward LDS chapel, 381 South 300 East, American Fork, with a viewing from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Tooele Cemetery, Tooele, Utah.
