Michael Rymer

Michael "Mike" Leander Rymer, born November 6, 1964, in Provo, Utah to Walter Lloyd Rymer and Wyla June Mulford, youngest of five children, passed unexpectedly due to a pulmonary embolism at the age of 58, surrounded by his loved ones on August 20, 2023.

Mike had a passion for football and played for American Fork High School as part of the class of 1983 before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Ohio from 1984 to 1986. After completing his mission, he returned home where he pursued his lifelong passions of hunting, fishing, and camping on the Boulder Mountain - known to Mike as, "God's Country."

Mike met his eternal companion, Tamara Gibson, in the Spring of 1992 and married her later in the fall of that same year. Mike and Tammy were sealed in the Jordan River Temple in 1993. They went onto have four children, Jorgen, Amber, Ashlie, and Jacob.

Mike worked at Geneva Steel for several years until it eventually closed in 2001. He then went onto work at UDOT where he worked his way up to a Construction Project Manager position.

In his final years, he goodheartedly pressured all four of his children to give him a grandson that he could take hunting, fishing, and camping, to which they blessed him with two wonderful granddaughters, Olivia Ray and Rachel June. These little girls were a constant source of joy to Mike. The last photo taken of Mike was of Oliva and Rachel sitting happily in his lap on the day before his passing.

He is survived by his mother Wyla, wife Tammy, his children Jorgen, Amber, Ashlie, and Jacob, his two granddaughters, his brother Terry and sister Kathy, as well as many nephews and nieces.

Mike's funeral will be held on Saturday August 26, 2023, at 825 E 500 N St, American Fork, UT 84003. The viewing is from 10:00 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. and the funeral service starts at 12:00 P.M. All who knew Mike or his family are encouraged to attend. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers.
