Michael Steven Mecham was born February 20, 1951 to Norma and Paul Mecham in American Fork, UT. He graduated from American Fork High School with the class of 1969. After High School he joined the Army National Guard. He went on to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the England Central Mission.
Mike married Christine Graham, in August of 1973, while attending BYU. They lived for a short while in Utah County and then moved to California. They had six children together. Mike and Chris moved from California to Oregon 1991. They built their own home on a beautifully wooded, 5 acres of forest. Mike and Chris were self-employed and ran a gift and home goods store for several years. They were married for 30 years and later divorced.
Mike went on to marry Caroline Chalupney in 2006. They were married for 13 years. They lived in Tualatin, OR and had a dog named Milo together. They enjoyed playing golf and tennis together. They recently divorced last July.
Mike worked in retail sales most of his life and was good at it. He could sell ice to an Eskimo.
Mike enjoyed playing basketball in his younger years and always looked forward to his High School Alumni basketball games and reunions. He recently picked up on the game pickle ball. He loved collecting and shooting guns and was a staunch Republican. (Trump 2020!) Rush Limbaugh was always playing on his radio if a Dodger baseball game was not on. He enjoyed warm weather and the beach. Mike was known for his humor and fun nature.
Mike moved to St. George, UT to be closer to his kids last July. He died unexpectedly on May 27, 2020 of a heart attack. He will be buried in the American Fork City Cemetery on June 5, 2020.
Mike is survived by his brothers Bob and Craig Mecham, his six children; Cami Harris, Shera Leaver, Garhett Mecham, Maren Ogden, Cade Mecham, Heath Mecham, along with his 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
