We mourn the passing and celebrate the extraordinary life of our beloved Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma May Carlson Hoover, who peacefully departed from us on July 6, 2024. She was one month shy of her 97th birthday.
Born on August 9th, 1927, Grandma was a beacon of love, strength, and wisdom to all who knew her. She was not only an exceptional cook, renowned for her homemade mac and cheese and double chocolate chip cookies that brought smiles to countless faces, but she was also the heart and soul of our family.
Grandma's presence was a constant source of comfort and joy. She never missed a momentous occasion, always offering her warm smile, gentle encouragement, and unwavering support to everyone around her. She enriched our lives with cherished memories of long walks to the neighborhood school, building sheet forts, and imparting invaluable sewing lessons.
Moving into Legacy Village in 2005 was a huge blessing in her life where she gained many new friends who she loved to be with. Her legacy family lovingly called her the energizer bunny. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where her kindness, patience, and generosity touched the lives of many. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will continue to inspire generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her husband Keith Hoover of 58 years. She is survived by her children, Pauline Wagoner (Lee), Jana Harmon (Joe), and Randy Hoover (Vicky), who will forever cherish her memory and carry forward her legacy with love and gratitude. She is already missed by her family, especially her grandchildren, Shawni (Mike), Jayme (Jason), Ryan, DeMarie, Maquel (Kayden) and her great grandchildren Gavin, Max, Savannah, Briar, and Christian.
A viewing will be held on July 11th at her ward house on 6364 S 3200 W Taylorsville from 6-8 PM. In lieu of a funeral, a graveside service will be held Friday July 12th at 11 AM at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 500 N 100 W .
Though we mourn her passing, we take solace in knowing that Grandma is reunited with her family and the love of her life. You will always be remembered as an absolutely amazing mom and grandma. Until we meet again.
Please share a memory in her guest book.
