Margaret Elizabeth Doering Dawson, 83, passed away July 9, 2021 in American Fork, Utah. She was born November 28, 1937 in Paget, Bermuda to Roderick Edmund Doering and Bessie Margaret Harris Doering. She grew up in Nova Scotia. She was introduced and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. She married Thomas Dawson in Nova Scotia. Thomas also passed away on July 9th in 1989. They had a daughter Haili. They moved to American Fork in 1981.
Margaret was an attentive grandmother and an avid scouter and proud to have won the Silver Beaver Award. She also had quite the collection of neckerchief slides. Everyone knew her as the neckerchief slide lady at church. She was very devoted to the Church and especially to Genealogy work. Some of her family from the United Kingdom she has found back to the 1200’s AD. She also loved listening to audio books.
Margaret was also very service oriented. She loved baking and making crafts. Margaret was shy but witty. She suffered from Multiple Sclerosis and was in and out of a wheel chair most of her adult life. In the last few years her friends the Van Zant and Gray families have been her devoted caregivers.
She is survived by her daughter Haili Michaels, 3 granddaughters: Shauntay, Karly and Kai, 2 great grandchildren Hayden and Hunter, 2 brothers Peter and John. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas and a brother Ted.
A memorial service in her honor will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Hillcrest Stake Center, 165 North 350 West, American Fork. A graveside service will follow at the American Fork Cemetery. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the church following the services. Please share a memory on Margaret’s tribute wall.
