Melvin Theo Larson - 1922 to 2015
Melvin Theo Larson (Theo) passed away peacefully on September 30, 2015, in Highland, Utah.
Born on November 14, 1922 in Glenbar Arizona to Lehi Larson Jr. and Della McBride Larson, Theo graduated from Pima (Arizona) High School where he met his eternal sweetheart Nina Crockett. Theo and Nina were married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on January 14, 1943.
Theo served in the Army Air Corp during World War II as a pilot and advanced to 2nd Lieutenant and flight instructor. While training he flew the B-17 Flying Fortress and B-29 Superfortress bombers.
After the War Theo and Nina lived in Pima, Arizona while he studied accounting at Eastern Arizona Jr. College. Theo worked as a bookkeeper/accountant throughout his career with various employers in Southeast Arizona and El Paso, Texas. In 1979 he moved the family to American Fork, Utah where he continued his career as an accountant until he retired in the late 1980s.
Theo had a beautiful tenor voice and loved to sing in choirs, quartets and solos throughout his life. He was very handy at fixing anything and even built the first family home in Pima, Arizona.
Theo served faithfully in all callings in the LDS Church including serving as a counselor in a bishopric, a ward clerk, a stake clerk and a member of the stake high council. Theo served a fulltime mission with Nina to Leeds, England and served for several years in the Provo and Mount Timpanogos temples. He taught his family well through his example.
Theo and Nina had 7 children, 41 grandchildren, 92 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.
He is survived by children LaRee (Gary) Phillippi, Utah, Dennis (Lynda), Utah, Grant (Michele), North Carolina, Elizabeth (Floyd) Johnson, Texas, Kendall (Sherry), Arizona, Janey (Jack) Nichols, Utah, and Brian (Molly), Utah. He is also survived by brothers, Bevan and Talmage Larson, and sister, Della Beals. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Nina, and sisters Donna Mathews, Ramona Ferrin, Voila Slade, Velma Allred and Dorothy Howard.
Viewing: Thursday, October 8, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Anderson & Sons Mortuary - 50 E 100 N, American Fork, Utah.
Funeral Services: Friday, October 9, at 11:00 am at the American Fork 26th Ward building, 975 North and 60 East, American Fork, Utah. Additional viewing from 9:45 to 10:45 prior to the funeral services in the American Fork 26th Ward building.
