LINDA KAY FORT ROSS
Linda Kay Fort Ross, 77 completed her earthly mission on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 and was welcomed back to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father, her Savior Jesus Christ and her sweet husband Dale George Ross.
Our beloved mother began her earthly life on March 29, 1941. She was born to Russell Gordon Fort and Nellie Angelina Preston in Ogden, Utah. She was the third of ve children and much of her 77 years of life were spent in Ogden where she had many wonderful friends and family who she loved and who loved her. She had a profound love and affection for the Ogden area and its history.
She married her sweetheart, Dale George Ross on February 12, 1960 in the Salt Lake City Temple where they began their eternal journey together. They loved their family and found the greatest joy and happiness in their three children. She has been a widow for the past 10 years after the passing of our father and her companion of 47 years.
Linda was a active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities. Her favorite calling however, was being a Relief Society teacher. She always loved those she worked with and served.
Linda loved life! Despite her many health challenges over the years, she took each day in stride. She ALWAYS had a smile on her face and she never complained. She was a true optimist! She saw only the good in others and she was grateful for each and every day! She loved not only her family, but also her extended family of friends! She was as good of friend as one could ever have. She had a gift to make those around her feel important, needed, loved and valued!
Linda loved her country and took great pride in the political process. She was always politically engaged and felt it was a blessing and opportunity to vote and have the ability to make a difference. She loved participating in the political process and loved the opportunity she frequently had of being a judge at the voting polls. She loved reworks and patriotic music and loved any and all outdoor summer concert! She enjoyed the arts in any form. She loved live theatre and was always the one who cheered the performers the loudest!
Linda has always been a pillar of strength and support to her family and friends. When her health declined 4 years ago she came to Highland, Utah to live with her daughter and her family. She brought such delight to their home and to those around her. Although she was apprehensive and distraught over this change initially, she soon realized how much all those in her new LDS ward and new community would come to love her, just as she had been loved by so many in her Ogden LDS ward and community.
She had a gift of reaching out to others and drawing others in with her gift of compassion and genuine Christ-like love towards others. She always saw others the way the Savior saw them which made it easy for her to truly love those around her! She was always lled with overwhelming compassion for others. She truly exemplied the life of our Savior.
During her recent stay in several health-care facilities she came to love those health care providers who cared for her and treated her with such respect and love. Those that served and cared for mom soon found themselves drawn to her endearing and vivacious personality and were frequently in her room to just to hang out with her. She was delightful, kind and appreciative to all those who cared for her! She will surely be missed! As Linda would frequently says…"I'll see you later Kid!"
