A beloved father, Lawrence Eugene Powell, passed away in his home on Thursday August 13, 2020 at the age of 82. He is remembered as a goodly parent and honorable person in word and deed. An Arizona boy at heart, he worked at White Cone trading post on the Navajo reservation until he chose to serve his country in the Navy. After finishing his tour of duty, he returned to Arizona and began a career in the soft-drink business that would take him from transport to technician to manager of several branches. He retired as a hard-working man and a successful provider for his family.
His interests included watching and playing all types of sports, including snow-skiing, softball, bowling, and golf. Later in life, he found great enjoyment in his grandchildren as he could never look at them without smiling and shedding a tear.
A man of few words, his expectations were undeniable, and overshadowed only by how much his children knew he loved them. He has made his moments in life count by being there for others. It was a privilege to learn from him and it will be an honor to remember him. His wisdom and goodness will be passed on to his posterity.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Edith Blattman, and is survived by his four children, Rick Powell; Tod Powell; Cheri Powell Stover; and Chris Powell.
