Laurie Ann Faux Decker, 58, of Lehi, Utah, passed away early in the morning of December 23, 2022, after a valiant battle with cancer. She spent her final days surrounded by her husband and children, who love her so much.
Born March 1, 1964, Laurie was the daughter of Charles and Donna Faux. She received a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University, where she played Division I volleyball as an outside hitter. She later received a master’s degree in recreation from the University of Utah. She enjoyed working as the director of Brighton LDS Girls Camp for three summers as a young adult. Laurie married David Knapton Decker on June 18, 1991, in the Jordan River Temple and eventually became a mother to seven children. She was an incredible mother. She homeschooled her children for many years as they were growing up, and she was a dedicated caregiver to her daughter Carrie, who had cerebral palsy. She taught and cared for her children with love, patience, and compassion. She will be remembered by her children as the most loving and amazing mother. Toward the end of her life, she loved being “Lolli” to her two young grandsons, Zdeno and Gio. She enjoyed their sweet spirits. They brought her comfort and joy.
Laurie had so many talents. She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed participating in choirs. She was a member of the Millennial Choir during the last few years of her life. She also played the piano and learned many duets to play with her husband, Dave. She was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing and sewing. She enjoyed decorating and creating a beautiful home. She was talented at sports, including volleyball and basketball. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking, and canoeing. She particularly loved picnics in the canyon with her family.
Laurie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life, including Relief Society President several times. She was close to the Spirit and regularly shared her testimony of the Savior’s love. Her faith upheld her throughout her cancer treatment. Toward the end of her life, she looked forward to a beautiful reunion with her daughter Carrie, who passed away five years ago.
Laurie is loved and will be deeply missed by her husband, Dave; her children Hyrum, Camille (Tyler), Andi (Ryan), Kurt (Kjersti), Gage, and Ben; her grandchildren Zdeno and Gio; her parents Charles and Donna Faux; her siblings Cheri Stafford, Susan Talbot, John Faux, and Peter Faux; her father and mother-in-law Tom and Mary Decker; and many other relatives and
