With heavy hearts and loving memories, we honor the life of Kyle Pratchett, who graced this Earth from February 28, 1974, to August 21, 2023.
Kyle was born to Terry & Linda Pratchett on Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California. Kyle was a fun-loving, big-hearted, generous son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. His home was open to everyone and he loved having people stay over. He was especially kind to and loved being with his nephews and nieces. He would look out for the needs of everyone before himself. He had a lot of friends that loved and cared about him deeply and he was a very loyal friend. He loved the outdoors and some of his adventures included camping, fishing, hiking, being a river guide, water skiing--especially at Lake Powell--and had a passion for Ice Hockey. Kyle was also a great cook and loved to barbecue. He also loved his fur baby, Blu.
Kyle is survived by his parents, Terry & Linda Pratchett, siblings: Lisa (Jay) Hofer, Heather (Brad) Glenn, Terry (Kathy) Pratchett, Patrick (Tyne) Pratchett and leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his nine nephews and five nieces. He is also survived by The Perry Family, Gannon Ward and many, many other dear friends.
Kyle's journey was one of purpose and passion. His early years led him to serve an LDS mission in Brazil, a time that not only deepened his faith but also ignited his lifelong love for exploration. Throughout his life, he journeyed to various destinations both abroad and at home. He was known to go on trips for weeks and explore Europe or National Parks or whatever sounded exciting to him. He graduated from the University of Utah and went on to get his Master's Degree from New York University. Kyle was very intelligent and loved reading and analyzing everything and solving problems. Kyle always picked people over material things.
Reflecting on Kyle's life includes acknowledging the profound impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him. To know Kyle was to be entertained with his laughter and teasing jokes, impressed with his sharp intellect, warmed by his generosity and charm, and touched by his giving heart.
As we gather to say goodbye, we invite you to join in celebrating Kyle's life on Saturday, August 26th at the Deerfield Ward, 676 North Eagle View Drive, Alpine, Utah. The family will be receiving guests starting at 12:45pm with the service starting at 2pm. He will be buried directly after the service at the Highland Cemetery in Highland, Utah.
