Kathel Howard

Kathel Howard, 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 5, 2016. She was born on August 17, 1930, in Randers, Denmark. She was the first in her family to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 17, and was followed in baptism by both of her sisters soon after. At age 21, Kathel immigrated to the United States, first arriving in Pocatello, ID, then moving to Manti, UT, where she worked in a sewing factory and would eventually meet her husband.
She was married in the Manti Utah Temple on April 13, 1956, and raised her family in Fremont, CA, where she served in many leadership roles within the LDS Church, including as Ward Relief Society President and in the Stake Relief Society Presidency. After her children were grown, she returned to Utah, where she was a dedicated temple worker for many years.
Kathel was a cherished daughter, wife, mother, sibling and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sigfred and Elna (Pedersen) Koitzsch, and brothers Villy and Hugo Koitzsch.
She leaves behind her husband Ray Howard of Lindon, UT; children Rock (Susie) Howard of Elk Grove, CA; Flint (Karen) Howard of Spring, TX; Kitty (John) Coker of Orem, UT; grandchildren Ryan, Brittany, Allison and Jacob Howard (Rock); Matthew, Eden and Dane Howard (Flint); and Brian Coker, Kristin (BJ) Logan and Adam Coker (Kitty); great-grandchildren Gabriel Coker and Rayleigh Engelhardt; and sisters Ruth Jenks and Allis Oborn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 11 at the Lindon 15th Ward, 1051 E 200 S Lindon, UT. Viewing will be from 9:45-10:45 prior to the service. Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery following the service.
