Julene Eggett Taylor passed away on July 21, 2022, after a battle with Alzheimer’s dementia. Julene was born on March 19, 1947, to L. Leo and Gretta Hooper Eggett. She married Kent LaVell Taylor on November 10, 1967. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. Her favorite and longest calling was as the primary pianist.
Julene loved Christmas, especially Christmas music. She always insisted that Christmas music be played at her funeral. Every year the day after Thanksgiving, she filled the house with Christmas music, lights, nativity scenes, and a piñon pine Christmas tree. Her tree was always decorated with memories. As a young mother, she handmade Christmas ornaments that her children still cherish, eventually replacing them with ornaments she collected on her travels. She found immense joy and peace in celebrating her Savior’s birth, giving gifts to those she loved, making and sharing delicious treats, and creating memories with her family. Towards the end of her life, she insisted on leaving her Christmas decorations up so she could continue to enjoy them.
Julene was patience personified. She raised a whole bunch of children but never raised her voice to them. She never shouted in anger, and despite what her sons may tell you, she never cursed.
Her favorite color was purple and one glance at her living room confirmed it.
She leaves behind a family who loves her and will miss her every day, including her husband of 55 years, Kent, four sons, four daughters, 14 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She was greeted at the veil by her son, Brice, and generations of loved ones. It was a joyous reunion!
