With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Josefina Acevedo Maita, a devoted mother, compassionate nurse, and a beloved member of our community. She departed this earthly life on December 10, 2023, in Cedar Hills, Utah, at the age of 76.

Born on March 29, 1947, in Venezuela, Josefina was a woman known for her profound love and kindness towards others. Her gentle spirit touched the lives of countless individuals, and her selflessness knew no bounds. As a nurse she spent many years caring for infants in the new infant care unit with her specialty in caring for those babies with severe health issues. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her role as a nurse, as she consistently brought comfort and solace to those around her.

Josefina was an extraordinary pillar of strength for her children. They held an unbreakable bond rooted in love, admiration, and mutual respect. She instilled in them the values of compassion, unity, and the importance of family. Josefina's legacy lives on through her family, as she leaves behind numerous grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

In her leisure time, Josefina found solace in the beauty of nature, particularly in the water. She would eagerly immerse herself in the ocean, enjoying every precious moment. Josefina was also passionate about dancing and adored the rhythm of music, finding joy and liberation in its melodies. Above all, she was an unwavering devotee of her savior, Jesus Christ, consistently exemplifying tireless faith and devotion.

Josefina's life was characterized by humility, generosity, and unwavering faith. Her gentle spirit, coupled with her nurturing nature, impacted the lives of all those fortunate enough to cross paths with her. She taught us the true meaning of unconditional love and lived her life as a shining example of compassion.

Josefina will be dearly missed by her surviving children: Angel Felix, Francis Josefina (James) Stahle and their daughter Mhia; her son and daughter-in-law Edgar Jose (Claudia) and their son Abraham; son and daughter-in-law Carlos Eduardo (Katiuska) and their children Sleither, Carlos, and Kelvin; her daughter and son-in-law Maria Liliana (Thomas) Reams and their children Elvis (Lindsay), Kimberly (Matthew) and their children Naomi and Henry, Mike (Rebecca) and their daughter Victoria, Ashley (Chase), Tomas Daniel and Scott Carlos as well as her sibling Rosa Acevedo and her loving nieces and nephews Danny, Maria, Eugenia, Jose and Antony. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lorenzo, her parents, Julio and Adela, and her siblings, Paula, Maria, Marcia, Fulgencia, Carmen, Juana, Pedro, Fernando, Eduardo, and Eugenio.

A public viewing in honor of Josefina's life will take place on December 15, 2023, at Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel 6141 West 11000 North, Highland Utah from 1:00 pm-1:45 pm. The Funeral Service will commence at 2:00 pm at the same location, where friends and loved ones will gather to pay their final respects and celebrate her remarkable journey. Following the ceremony, Josefina will be laid to rest at the Highland City Cemetery 6200 West 11000 North, Highland, UT 84003.

In this time of mourning, let us remember Josefina's loving spirit, her unwavering faith, and her enduring impact on all those whose lives she touched. May her soul find eternal rest, and may her memory live on as a constant reminder of love, compassion, and the power of selflessness.
