John S. Johnson, 65, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at his home in Lehi, surrounded by his family. He was the fourth of five children, born on June 9, 1950 in Provo, Utah to Robert and Verdell (Lee) Johnson. He married the love of his life, Rosemary Elmer, on June 16, 1972.
John attended school in American Fork and went on to earn an Associates Degree in Diesel Technology from Utah Valley State College. He became an adjunct instructor at UVSC in 1994, teaching Diesel Mechanics. He was an excellent mechanic and loved teaching his students and sharing with them everything he had learned through the years.
John was also the most loving husband, father, and grandpa that anyone could ask for. He loved his wife to the moon and back and was always his children's number one fan. His huge heart and caring nature extended well beyond his family. He always welcomed his children's friends into his home with open arms and made them feel like they were part of the family. Any time anyone needed help, he was there. He would drop everything to run to the rescue, whether it was one of the kids, one of his nieces or nephews, one of his many friends, or even the friend-of-a-friend, he would be there to help in any way he could.
John's greatest pride and joy in this life were his 7 grandkids. He did everything he could to spoil them rotten from the minute they were born. He thought each and every one of them hung the moon and stars and was so very proud to be their grandpa.
John is survived by his wife, his son, John Duke (Heidi) Johnson, his daughter, Jodi (Chad) Colledge, and his three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
