JoAnn McEwan

JoAnn Bunker Baker McEwan, 78, passed away April 18, 2019 in Lehi, Utah. She was born February 15, 1941 in Delta, Utah to Harrison Edward Bunker and Lydia Dora Fielding Bunker. She married Cecil Frank Baker Jr. , they were later divorced. From their union they had 2 children a daughter Shelly Helen and a son Cecil Frank Baker 3rd (C.F.) She met the love of her life and married him, Lloyd Coltrin McEwan. They spent the rest of their lives together, enjoying work, traveling, friends, family and were inseparable. Jo Ann was the oldest of four girls, raised on a family farm in Delta, Ut. She always spoke fondly of her "Mama" and "Daddy", she enjoyed spending time with her sisters Ethyl, Lea and Reena. Summers were spent out to Baker, Nevada with cousins at Uncle Joe and Aunt Virginia's ranch. She attended Delta High School and always loved attending school dances. While living in Delta, JoAnn was a handy woman who worked hard on the farm raising swine and sheep. She was active in the community, serving as an EMT, an auxiliary member of the Delta Fire Dept. and West Millard Jeep Posse. She was an excellent seamstress making clothing, for her children and grandchildren, She was always willing to serve. As time progressed she went from a country girl to a city girl, she loved meeting new people, entertaining, beautiful dresses, and the perfume, Giorgio. JoAnn loved a good book to read, needlework, cooking and tending to flowers on the back porch. She had a green thumb and could make any flower grow. JoAnn supported Lloyd through their business adventures starting many new companies and projects. JoAnn worked with Lloyd in secretarially duties for many years. Lloyd and JoAnn enjoyed purchasing an art collection that fills their home, they spent many years traveling abroad with close friends, boating trips to Lake Powell, in later years they enjoyed a second home in Peoria, Az, Each Utah winter was spent among friends in Arizona golfing, viewing the golf course and wildlife from their kitchen window. JoAnn was spunky, determined and did it her way. Lloyd and JoAnn were always gracious and opened their home to family and friends over the years. JoAnn, mom and grandma J loved her husband Lloyd, her home, children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, shopping trips, disneyland trips, and just being together with loved ones was a favorite pastime. JoAnn loved purchasing sets of dishes ,china and knives to add to her collection, she loved shopping and shoes. JoAnn was a very generous and giving person. She loved her nieces and nephews and all of her extended family. One of her greatest joys were her dogs, "Charlie", "Charlie 1 and Charlie 2", She loved sitting by her pool, mornings could find her at the kitchen table drinking a cup of coffee and a paper in the other hand. JoAnn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she was baptized at 16 yrs of age With the encouragement from her Seminary teacher, At numerous baptisms and baby blessing JoAnn Would be at the pulpit expressing her love for family and her Savior. JoAnn faced many struggles in her life, including poor health in her later years, but, with a smile on her face She always saw the cup half full instead of half empty, Her strength and dedication to family and home will be a legacy for years to come. She is survived by her husband Lloyd, her children Shelly (Mike) Anderson, C.F. (Michelle) Baker, her step children Mary Ellen Smith and Michael McEwan, 8 grandchildren KC Bogue, Amy Jo Frandsen, Michelle Myers, Brooke Fowles, Morgan Bogue, Matthew Bogue, Deborah Tolbert, Andrea Baker, 14 great grandchildren, her 3 sisters Ethyl (Larry, deceased) Bannon, Lea (Rod) Decker and Reena (Larry) Dreon. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Heidi Bogue. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the East Lawn Cemetery, 4800 North 650 East, Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM at Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel 6141 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah. Please share a memory at andersonmortuary.com.
