Joan Roylance Risenmay, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on November 12, 1940, to Harvey and Bertha Roylance in Salt Lake City, Utah. She peacefully passed away at the age of 84 on December 18, 2024, in Highland, Utah, surrounded by her devoted family.
Joan's early years were spent farming and ranching in Idaho and Washington, where she developed a strong work ethic and deep love for family and community. At the tender age of 16, she met the love of her life, H. Rees Risenmay. The two were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 31, 1960, and shared a lifetime of joy, raising their family and building a home filled with love in Mattawa, Washington.
Joan's life was a testament to thrift, hard work, dedication, and service. She devoted herself to her faith, her family, and countless acts of kindness. Known for her culinary talents, Joan ran a thriving catering and candy-making business, delighting many with her famous pecan logs. Her love for Jesus Christ led her to serve in numerous church callings, including a cherished mission in New Zealand, and as a temple worker for over 25 years.
Her sense of humor and sweet laugh brought joy to everyone around her, and her tender care for her mother in her final years exemplified her compassionate heart. Joan's inspiring life of love and service left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Joan is now reunited with her parents, Harvey and Bertha Roylance, and her brother, Keith. She leaves behind her devoted husband, H. Rees Risenmay; her 10 loving children- Jodi Risenmay, Jess (Laurel), George (Jennifer), Shauna (Reid) Law, Heidi (Richard) Weyland, Tyler (Teresa), Lara (Larry) Shaw, Seth (Cecila), Natalie (Angel) Alvarado, and Jaclyn (David) Child; 52 grandchildren; nearly 40 great-grandchildren; and her dear siblings, Bob, Mark, and Eydie Borup.
