Jerry Joseph Hudson, 84, of Highland, Utah passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 1, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born November 20, 1938, in Hannibal, Missouri and was the son of Arthur Hudson and Nellie Fible Hudson. Jerry married Barbara Crane in 1958 and was a father to Danny and Ricky. Jerry married the love of his life, Lola Clydene Davis Neath, on November 14, 1976 in Reno, Nevada and blended their family with children Brad, Greg, Stephanie and Paula. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple on June 16, 1979. Jerry had a profound effect on everyone that he came in contact with. He was a proud member of UA Local 469 Plumbers and Steamfitters of Arizona. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings during his lifetime including Bishop of the Scottsdale Arizona 1st Ward. Family was the most important part of Jerry’s life.
Jerry had a passion for serving others. He loved working with the youth and was the Webelos Leader for over 7 years and loved the special relationships he built with the boys. Jerry served with his sweetheart, Lola, in the Mount Timpanogos Temple weekly for 13 years. He also enjoyed gardening and loved when his family, neighbors and friends came and picked vegetables from “Grandpa’s Garden.” Jerry loved spending time in his barn (workshop) restoring vehicles, working on projects for others and even designed and made a “bicycle built for two”. Jerry was a very sentimental and genuine man who touched the lives of so many and made everyone he came in contact with feel a special relationship with him. Jerry had a great love of the mountains and nature. This included driving through the mountains, hunting with his boys, spending time at the lake with family and friends, and sitting on the back patio enjoying the view with Lola.
Survivors include his wife, Lola, children: Daniel Lynn Hudson, Bradley Davis Neath, Richard Scott (Linda) Hudson, Gregory Stephen (Teresa) Neath, Stephanie (Tom) Stuart, Paula Neill. Together Jerry and Lola have 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandson. Jerry’s surviving siblings include Donald (Delores) Hudson and Diana (Eddie) Kime. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Arthur Lee Hudson. A viewing will be held Sunday, March 5th from 5-7pm at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 6th at 12 noon in the Highland 16th Ward, 10962 North 6400 West, Highland, Utah, with a viewing prior to services at 10:45-11:45am. The burial will be in the Highland City Cemetery.
