Janet Louise Robinson Alexander passed away from natural causes on May 4, 2024, at the place she loved and affectionately called “My Little Cottage,” at River Meadow in Alpine, Utah.
She was born July 14, 1933, to William Wayne Robinson and Lydia Louise Skinner Robinson in Highland, Utah. She married Bert Clark Alexander on July 12, 1950. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on October 8, 1951.
She was a woman of great faith and had a deep love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. She served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including nine years as a counselor in the American Fork Stake Relief Society Presidency. She and her husband, Bert, served four missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California San Diego Mission. She was an avid reader of The Book of Mormon, having read it over a hundred times during the last several years. She set an example for all her posterity in scripture study.
For sixteen years she worked in the fabric department of Christensen’s department store in American Fork. She enjoyed talking to people and getting to know them. No matter their circumstance, she treated them as important and valued. She was loved by those in the community and became known as the “Fabric Lady.” She was an excellent seamstress, and also crocheted dozens of afghans and hundreds of dishcloths, and found boundless joy in giving to others.
The things she taught her family are priceless. By example, she taught faith in a living God, the power and importance of testimony, scripture study, the value of unconditional love and charity, gratitude, and optimism. Not only did she believe in the pure love of Christ, she also lived it.
She had a unique ability to befriend everyone she met and was kind, taking a genuine interest in them. She loved people, no matter who they were or what they had done. She was loved and adored by her 28 grandchildren and her 80 great grandchildren. She knew all of their names and could tell you something about each one of them. Each of them, in turn, thought that they were her favorite.
She wanted to be remembered as one who had great faith and who chose to be optimistic. She finished this life faithful and full of optimism to the end.
She is survived by her children Vickie Lynn and Steve Bonar, Allen B. and Denise A. Alexander, Donald W. and Kathryn J. Alexander, Wade C. and Sydney E. Alexander, foster daughter, Sandra (Simir) McCabe. She is also survived by her siblings Shirley Russon, Norma Peck and Bill Robinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Stan, Carl and Richard, her beloved husband Bert Clark Alexander, a grandson, Hyrum Alexander and a great granddaughter, Hope Alexander.
