James Stephen (JS) Wright, 82, of Lehi, Utah, passed away on June 3, 2023 peacefully at home with his family. Born January 15, 1941 in American Fork, Utah, the son of Glenn Arthur Wright and Dorothy Rose Grant Wright.
He lived with his family in American Fork until June of 1957, at which time they moved to Provo, Utah. He ran track, played football and attended Boys' State. Upon graduating from Brigham Young University High School, in 1959, he joined the Army Reserve and headed to Ft. Ord.
In 1961, Jim was called as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served for two and a half years in the South German Mission. Upon his return, he attended BYU, graduating in 1966 with a major in Political Science and a minor in German. He continued his education at Northeastern University, graduating in 1967 with a Masters degree in Accounting.
Jim and Janet Pitts met while attending BYU and married in September of 1967 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to Denver, Colorado, where they lived, worked, and raised their family until December of 2022 when they moved to Lehi, Utah.
Jim worked for Haskins & Sells, Beth Israel Hospital, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Denver General Hospital, and was an adjunct Professor at Webster University for many years. He loved reading, learning, and studying current events, working in the yard, and taking his kids to the zoo.
He was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Bishop of the Lakewood 2nd Ward and a member of the Stake Presidency in the Lakewood Colorado Stake in Denver, Colorado. He was an amazing Home Teacher.
He is survived by his wife Janet, children DeeAnn (Jesse) Brimhall, Kristen (Paul) Anderson, Kevin (Vera) Wright, Darren (Sally) Wright, Shannon (Blake) Martino, Shelly-Ann (Clark) Van Den Berghe, 24 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and siblings David Wright, Doris Greenwood, Marcia Young, and Ken Wright.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 9:45 am to 10:45 am at the mortuary prior to the services. Burial in the American Fork Cemetery.
