James Hardt

September 15, 1951 — December 28, 2023

James D. Hardt, 72, left this earth December 28, 2023, at 1:30 pm with Tammy at his side. He was born September 8, 1951, in, Sioux City, Iowa, to William and Norma Hardt. He was the third and most adventurous of their three boys. With Dad frequently traveling for work, mom stayed home to raise and love them (including teaching them to throw a softball - like only she could).

On February 11, 2011, he married Tammy S. Davis in Orem, Utah. They began a side-by-side journey of working, traveling, and creative projects together that lasted for twelve years.

His early sense of adventure led his desperate mother to harness him to the clothesline to keep him from going fishing (sans pants at age three) or channeling his inner Superman by climbing to the roof wearing his bath towel cape to "fly." Later he would climb mountains (Mt. Rainier, the Tetons, and eight of the twelve highest peaks in Colorado, with a distant hope for Everest). Other passions included art, cars, birds, travel, music, wine, and really good food.

He proudly graduated from Regis University in August 1996, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

As a District Manager for Wacker Neuson, a construction equipment manufacturer, he traveled frequently through Montana, Idaho, and Utah, for fifteen years. He often stopped to admire the scenery or fly fish. Customers, managers, and fellow co-workers admired his business sense, skill, and dedication. Prior to working at Wacker, he was a quality control specialist for Aggregate Industries.

Other early jobs included working in restaurants, construction, and bricklaying. These skills continued throughout his life, as evidenced by anyone sampling his pizza, quesadillas, or remodeling advice proclaiming it to be the best ever!

He loved the Lord, his family, all things beautiful, and life.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy; brothers, Dennis (Adrienne) Hardt and Robert (Sheila) Hardt; and nieces, nephew, cousins, and aunts. He is preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.

Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating his life on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 1:30 pm at the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 W 1100 N, Highland, Utah 84003.
