Our loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, hero and example, passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer surrounded by his loving wife, daughters and son. Ivan was born to O. Wayne Day and Ruby Buhler Day in Highland Utah. He was the 5th of 12 children. Ivan loved his brothers and sisters; he loved to work with them and play with them. He loved his mother and father and honored them all the days of their lives. Ivan took care of his family farm in his youth and in his adult years until health would no longer permit. He was very bright and did well in school. He graduated from BYU with a degree in mechanical engineering after which he worked for Geneva Steel and finished his career at Kennecott. He loved his country and served in the Utah Army National Guard for 8 years.

Ivan was our own personal “MacGyver” as he could fix or build about anything. Ivan loved to garden, he loved sports, especially BYU sports and the Utah Jazz. Ivan loved the Lord and served Him all his days. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Scotland from 1967 to 1969. When he returned home, he was asked to teach a co-worker and his family the gospel.  Through that service he met the love of his life, Nancy. Together they raised 7 girls and 1 son. He had a very tender heart that enabled him to survive those 7 girls. Service and love of others was a hallmark of his life. He served the Lord his whole life in various church callings. In the end if you were to ask him, he would state that his greatest calling was that of husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, children: Tammy(John)Hibbard, Natalie(Alanson) Taylor, Taralyn(Michael)Mineer, Denise(Micah)Richards, Shari(Tyler) Dudley, Rebecca(Bryan)Millward, Raquel (Dallas)Lasley, Joshua (Ashley) Day, 27 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers and sisters Orville Day, Wilford Day, Karen Carbajal, Paul Day, Clark Day, Ruth Huish, Joy Ruff, Lynn Day, and Eugene Day. Preceded in death by his parents: O. Wayne Day, Ruby Day, and sisters, Jewel Day and Bonnie Day.

A private graveside dedication will be held May 1, 2020.
