Isaac Child

September 7, 2004 — January 27, 2025

Isaac Robert Child, age 20, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on January 27, 2025 at his home in Highland, Utah. Isaac was born on September 7, 2004 to Brannen and Tiffany (Goodman) Child in American Fork, Utah and was the second oldest in his family of seven boys. His family always came first and he left a piece missing from each of his brother’s and parent’s heart. Our entire world has stopped without Isaac with us. We love Isaac more than any words can describe and loosing him has left our hearts broken.

Growing up, his mother described him as the sweetest, most adorable and very loveable little boy with his signature big brown eyes, melt-your-heart smile, long eyelashes and a head full of thick, beautiful, brown curls, which came from his mother’s genes. He loved his mommy to hold him and carry him everywhere and when he grew too heavy for carrying, Isaac would always hold her hand tightly and she loved his little hand wrapped around hers.

It was clear he was a natural athlete and at age five, he started playing competitive soccer and basketball. He was competitive, aggressive and worked hard to get better. His family loved watching him play in games and tournaments over the years and never missed any games. Those who watched Issac play these sports were truly in awe at his talent and abilities to score many points in every game and often would come tell his parents how impressed they were.

Isaac suffered from epilepsy starting at age thirteen, but he never wanted that to define him, so he fought and battled to live life without fear, always getting back up when knocked down and without complaining. He was full of adventure and loved to mountain bike, road bike and ski. He was active in scouting and went on many campouts and high adventure activities. He served faithfully as the first assistant to the Bishop in the Priest’s quorum.

He was the light of his mother’s life and dream come true since he was born and will always be her hero as he is the most brave and courageous person she knows. He has a heart of pure gold, frequently made his mother laugh and loved to spend one-on-one time with her whether it was going shopping and doing lunch, or just talking on the phone for hours while he was away at college. He was always wanting to protect her and was frequently worried and concerned about her well-being. They truly had a close and unbreakable bond.

Isaac made sure that Christ was a central part of his life. He enjoyed attending the temple frequently. He has a kind and giving nature and would write beautiful, heart-felt notes, particularly to his parents. He had a strong desire to serve a full-time mission since he was young. In 2023, he received his call to serve in the Billings, Montana mission. He ultimately wasn’t able to serve due to his epilepsy, but family and friends believe he now has that opportunity to testify and teach of Christ on the other side of the veil.

Isaac loved his role and responsibility as a brother. He was a great example to them and they looked up to him and loved and adored Isaac immensely. He would frequently help his brothers with sports whether it was playing ball in the backyard, offering advice on how to get better or which sports team to join. He was frequently encouraging them to make good choices, praying for them, making them laugh, attending their sports games or teaching them how to play cards.

In high school, he joined the Lone Peak track and field team and worked hard day after day, supported by his fantastic coaches to become a top sprinter. His senior year, he placed in three events at the state meet including the 400-meter dash and the 4 X 400 and 4 X 200-meter relays. Some of his closest friends and relationships were formed during those years on the track.

Isaac is survived by his parents, Brannen and Tiffany, his six brothers Austin, Dylan, Preston, Luke, Landon and Jaxon, his grandfather Robert Goodman and grandparents Lynn and Janice Child. Isaac is preceded in death by his grandma Linda Goodman and uncle Sean Goodman.
